Hip Hostess: 5 DIYs to Try to Get You Through Hosting a Dinner Party in Style

Admittedly, I will celebrate well-nigh any vacation, if given the chance (I do skip St Patrick's Day though – I have my limits). But I don't typically become the traditional road when it comes to holiday decorating. If you lot couldn't tell, from my by entertaining posts.

I only like to proceed things low primal, with smaller holiday hints that tie things together without being 'in your face'.

And so…concluding week while I was in Houston, I put together a DIY Easter party to gloat the upcoming holiday, along with my friend Ashley of Sugar & Cloth. Together, nosotros partnered with Fossil to create a curiously understated Easter party that would be a perfect style to celebrate with friends this twelvemonth. And to go along things interesting, we fabricated all the projects (well, all just one of the projects) and the colour palette neutral enough to comprise twelvemonth round, long afterwards Easter has come and gone.

The colour palette we went with was a mix of traditional Easter pastels (light coral pink and a lilliputian bit of mint) with a bright orangey scarlet, along with neutral tans, black, and white. The cease result was a minimal modern political party style, hipper than your average Easter dinner.

TheDIY grid tabular array runner was another fun ane. It added texture and graphic element to a tablescape without beingness overwhelming. I used a straightedge and a fabric marker (regular permanent markers work likewise) to create the grid lines on a evidently tablecloth. Then merely folded the tablecloth into a long runner. Done! This was 1 of my favorite DIYs from the party considering it'southward really elementary and tin be used over and over once more.

DIY // How to Make Giant Circle Wall Art

And as some other super inexpensive idea for parties, head to the fine art supply shop for a few yards of the behemothic paper they have on rolls. So cut out a giant geometric shape, tape it to the wall, and remove it after your guests have left. This is an affordable manner to add a focal betoken in a space, without spend much money. It cost less than $5 to make that giant four ft circle.

All you demand is a pencil, a long piece of string, a nail, and a friend to make your own perfectly circular circle. But wrap a piece of string (cord length should exist half the size of the circle you want to create overall) around the nail and then tie a pencil to the other terminate. Place the nail in the middle of your paper, while a friend keeps it secure. Then, with your pencil as upright as possible, draw your circle. The string will human activity as the guide for a perfect circle.

For more of an Easter bear on, you could easily create oval shapes instead to mimic Easter eggs.

DIY Easter Eggs

Easter centerpiece filled with dyed eggs + air plants

There's no shortage of egg projects this time of yr, but I idea it would be fun to tie in the holiday with these blackness galaxy looking Easter eggs.

They're really easy to brand. All you need is grape Kool Assistance, vinegar, and water for the black speckled eggs. Cascade two packets of grape Kool Aid into a large cup, add together four-5 tablespoons of vinegar, and stir. Then add together three/4 – 1 cup of water and stir once again before using. The eggs will naturally develop some uneven areas that kind of resemble natural rocks and/or galaxy type patterns that expect pretty cool. And like other egg dyeing projects, the longer you leave these eggs in the dye, the richer the colour.

Add the finished eggs to a big bowl on the tabular array with a few air plants to mimic Easter grass and you have a simple centerpiece for simply a few dollars.
